Psalm 2

In Psalm 2 the psalmist declares in no uncertain terms that all opposition to God is ultimately futile. God laughs at man’s desperate plans to break free, but in time his laughter turns to rebuke. When nations come to realize that God is involved in all that happens to them they are terrified.
                   Psalm 2

Why do the nations plan rebellion?
Plotting against the Lord?
Listen as they exclaim to one other
“Our freedom demands the sword!”

The One enthroned in heaven laughs
“How futile is your passion!
You’re terrified of all that’s going to happen
Since I’ve installed my King on Zion.”

The King proclaims the Lord’s decree,
“Today you are my Son;
You’ll smash the nations like pots of clay
Victory will soon be won.”

Here is a lesson you kings must learn
Serve the Lord with fear;
Submit to the royal Son of God
Or death to you will draw near.
