PSALM 3 (Metric)

David wrote the third Psalm during that period of time when he was fleeing from his son, Absalom. Although his enemies were many, God gave him the protection he needed so that he was able to lie down and sleep in spite of the difficulties he faced.
I have more enemies than I can count,
They rise against me, Lord;
They say you won’t deliver me
But you gave me your solemn word.

You, O Lord, are a shield all around me
You hold my head up high;
I call out to you and you answer me
From mountains that reaches the sky.

I lie down and sleep through the night so long
Wake both safe and sound;
I have no fear of those who attack
For I know you’ll bring them down.

Punish my enemies, O Lord, I pray
Break their teeth and jaw,
May your blessings rest on the people you love
Of you, Lord, we stand in awe.
